Priority Document Electronic Exchange started between the TIPO and the JPO as of December 2, 2013

The electronic transfer of certified copies of patent applications (priority documents) between Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) and the JPO, which serves as the basis for claims for priority, started on December 2, 2013. For Japanese applications claiming Taiwan priority rights, the electronic transfer will be applied to priority documents that certify that an application has been filed in the TIPO claiming Taiwan priority.

An applicant shall be relieved from submitting priority document(s) if an access code obtained from the TIPO is listed on the application. If an applicant cannot obtain the application number of the priority document(s) and/or the access code at the time of filing the application in Japan, such information must be supplemented by filing an amendment within 16 months from the earliest priority date(s).
