The JPO and the INPI (Portugal) started the PPH-MOTTAINAI pilot program on January 2013. The PPH-MOTTAINAI program is an enhanced PPH program. Applicants are able to use a positive patentability decision by either the JPO or the INPI (Portugal) to seek accelerated consideration of the application regardless of which office was the first office to receive the application filing.

The JPO has now extended the PPH-MOTTANAI pilot program to 11 countries and/or authorities.
