In our second seminar in a three-part series presenting advanced aspects of Japanese patent law that are not often discussed in English, we consider how to provide the best protection for Internet of Things (IoT) inventions. This presentation discusses the challenges unique to protecting IoT inventions, and proposes an effective way to structure claims to meet these challenges.

Finally, we present a case study showing how these techniques can be used in practice.
