The JPO announced on December 28, 2018, that the official fee for filing a request for examination will be revised (an increase of 20,000 yen) as of April 1, 2019.

This revision of the examination fee will be applied in requests for examination for which an application, including a divisional application, has been filed on or after April 1, 2019. For applications based on a PCT application, this revision will be applied in requests for examination for which the international filing date is on or after April 1, 2019.

 

The revised JPO request for examination fee will be calculated as follows:

1. Paris Convention case:
   138,000 yen + (the number of claims x 4,000 yen)
2. PCT case:
   124,000 yen + (the number of claims x 3,600 yen)
