Japanese Patent Attorneys
Makoto Onda (President, Patent Attorney)
Mr. Onda joined ONDA TECHNO in 1994. He is a graduate of Chuo University (L.B. Law) and the University of Central Florida (B.S. Electrical Engineering). He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 1994. His experience includes the preparation and prosecution of electrical and mechanical patent applications. Representative technical matters he has handled include semiconductors, image processing and software-related inventions. He frequently lectures and writes on topics related to business method patents in Japan and has become a recognized authority in this field. He has authorized two books, which are titled Basics and Practice of the Business Model Patents and Patents and Law for IT Professionals. He is a member of AIPLA, AIPPI, APAA, INTA and LES. He has been a member of the board of the Japan group of APAA since 2005. He was a vice president of the International Activities Committee of Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2000 and a member of Software Committee of JPAA from 1999 to 2003.
Hironori Onda (Chairman, Patent Attorney)
Mr. Onda was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 1966 and established ONDA TECHNO in 1968. He is a graduate of Tokyo Mercantile and Marine College (B.S. Ship Engineering) and Meijo University (L.B. Law). He has over 30 years experience in litigation, appellate practice and providing expert opinions, as well as preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent, design and trademark applications. He has done extensive consulting on industrial property subjects including over twenty years of service as a counselor to the Gifu Invention Association. More recently, he has been actively involved with product development and technology licensing. He has taught intellectual property subjects at the university level including an appointment as a lecturer on Intellectual Property at Aichi Gakuin University (1988 ~ 1991) and at Nagoya Keizai (Commercial) University (1992~1994). In addition, he has been a guest professor at the Cooperative Research Center of Gifu University since 2000. He is also a member of the Patent Attorney Association of Japan's Design Committee (Chairman in 1990). He was a vice president of the Japanese Patent Attorneys Association in 1997.
Hiroshi Fukui (Vice President, Patent Attorney)
Mr. Fukui joined ONDA TECHNO as a vice president when we opened our Osaka branch office in April, 2004. He is a graduate of Kobe University (B.S. Mechanical Engineering). He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 1981. He worked at the IP department of a large air-conditioning company for many years and has experience in working for several patent firms. During these periods, he has been actively involved with several major Japanese IP organizations (Japan IP Association, Licensing Executives Society, etc.) as a member of the board of directors or as an administration officer.
Tokuo Kobayashi (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Kobayashi joined ONDA TECHNO in March, 2000, after working at a planning company and a large Japanese clothing company. He is a graduate of Kinki University (B.S. Agriculture) and majored in plant pathology. He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 1999. Mr. Kobayashi’s experience includes matters concerning biotechnology.
Mamoru Kuwagaki (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Kuwagaki joined ONDA TECHNO in April, 2000, after working in the R & D and IP divisions of a large telecommunication company. He is a graduate of Osaka University (M.S/B.S Engineering) where he majored in Semiconductor Materials. He also graduated from Chuo University. (LL.B.) where he majored in Economic Law. He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2000. His experience includes semiconductor device structure, semiconductor device manufacturing technology, multimedia technology and IP administrative matters. He is a member of the Association of Law and Computers.
Yasuhisa Nakashima (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Nakashima joined ONDA TECHNO in 2001, after working at a textile company and other patent firms. He is a graduate of Gakushuin University (B.S Economics). He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 1995. His experience includes extensive domestic application preparation and prosecution in electrical and business method fields. Representative technical matters he has handled include laser printers, laser displays, ink-jet printers and software-related inventions. Also, he has handled many design and trademark applications.
Nobuya Sahashi (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Sahashi joined ONDA TECHNO in 2002, after working at a chemical company. He is a graduate of Nagoya University (B.S. Plant Pathology). He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2001. Representative technical matters that he has handled are industrial chemistry and biotechnology.
Junichi Kodera (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Kodera joined ONDA TECHNO when we opened our Osaka branch office in April, 2004. He is a graduate of Hiroshima University (M.S./B.S. Industrial Chemistry). He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2001. His experience includes extensive domestic application preparation and prosecution in chemical and mechanical fields.
Hiroshi Matsuda (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Matsuda joined ONDA TECHNO in October 2001, after working in the electronics industry. He is a graduate of Nagoya University (M.S./B.S. Engineering) where he majored in Material Process Engineering.
He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2002.
Mihoko Masaki (Patent Attorney)
Ms. Masaki joined ONDA TECHNO in 2002.She is a graduate of Tsuda University (B.A. English).She was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2002.She is now handling domestic and foreign design application preparation and prosecution.
Tatsuya Kimura (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Kimura joined ONDA TECHNO in January 2003, after working at a shopping complex development company for 15 years, and then at a patent firm for four years. He is a graduate of Shizuoka University (B.S. Plant Ecology). He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 1999. Currently, he is handling domestic and foreign applications for design patents and trademarks.
Noriko Yashiro (Patent Attorney)
Ms. Yashiro joined ONDA TECHNO in 2005.She is a graduate of Yokohama City University (B.A. Literature and Science).She was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2005.She is now handling domestic and foreign design application preparation and prosecution.
Junko Murai (Patent Attorney)
Ms. Murai joined ONDA TECHNO in October 1999.She is a graduate of SHIBAURA Institute of Technology (B.S. Mechanical Engineering). She was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2005.Her experience includes extensive domestic application preparation in mechanical, software technology and electrical fields.
Atsushi Honda (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Honda joined ONDA TECHNO in 2000. He is a graduate of Nagoya University (M.S. / B.S. Mechanical Engineering), where he majored in aerospace engineering. He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2005. His experience includes domestic and foreign patent application preparation and prosecution in the mechanical and electro-mechanical fields.
Takashi Nakajima (Patent Attorney)
Mr.Nakajima joined ONDA TECHNO in 2005,after working in the rubber industry. He is a graduate of Osaka University (M.S/B.S Engineering) where he majored in Mechanical Engineering. He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2005. Representative technical matters he has handled include automotive mechanics and automatic engine controls.
Takehiko Ishido (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Ishido joined ONDA TECHNO in 2006. He is a graduate of Kyoto University (M.S. Irradiation physics/chemistry). He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2006. He worked as an chemical-plant engineer for a large textile company for many years. His experience includes extensive domestic application preparation and prosecution in mechanical/electric device fields.
Kurumi Tsuru (Patent Attorney)
Ms. Tsuru joined ONDA TECHNO in 2006. She is a graduate of Nagoya University (Bachelor of Law). She was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2001. She has experience in working for another patent firm for four years and a half. She spent one year at Morrison & Foerster, LLP in Washington, DC, U.S.A as a visiting attorney. Her experience includes extensive domestic and foreign application preparation and prosecution in trademark fields. She is fluent in English.
Miho Ikegami (Patent Attorney)
Ms. Ikegami joined ONDA TECHNO in 1998.
She is a graduate of Kyoto University (M.S. / B.S. Agriculture), where she majored in food engineering. She was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2006. Her experience includes domestic and foreign patent application preparation and prosecution in the biotechnology and communication.
Taro Shimada (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Shimada joined ONDA TECHNO in 2006 after working in a gelatin manufacturer and another patent firm. He is a graduate of Osaka City University (B.S.Engineering), where he majored in reaction engineering. He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2006. His experience includes extensive domestic application preparation in chemical field.
Yuko Asano (Patent Attorney)
Ms. Asano joined ONDA TECHNO in 2006 after working in food companies and another patent firm. She is a graduate of Kyoto University (B.S. Agriculture), where she majored in food engineering. She was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2006. Her experience includes extensive domestic application preparation in chemical field.
Minoru Yamamoto (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Yamamoto joined ONDA TECHNO in 2007 after working in a medical component manufacture.
He is a graduate of Gifu University (M.S/B.S.Engineering), where he majored in applied chemistry.

Miki Nakamura (Patent Attorney)
Ms. Nakamura joined ONDA TECHNO in 2007 after working in a food company and an institute of public health . She is a graduate of Osaka University (M.S/B.S.Engineering), where she majored in biotechnology. She was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2007. Satoru Futamase (Patent Attorney)
Mr. Futamase joined ONDA TECHNO in 2006 after working in a manufacturer of electonics for productive equipment. He is a graduate of Tokai University (M.S/B.S. Engineering), where he majored in electronics. He was admitted to the Japan Patent Attorneys Association in 2007. Akane Suzuki (Patent Attorney)
